After having delivered macho movies like 'Wanted' and 'Rowdy Rathore', Prabhu Deva has done a fair job with 'Ramaiya Vastavaiya', but it has nothing new which has not yet been seen before. The film is barely halfway into the first half at this point of the narrative, but the audience has already clearly drifted away, as the loud sniggers, snide comments and audible fidgets in the auditorium indicate.

Prabhu Deva mixes these yesteryear ingredients to dish out a formulaic film with melodious tunes and some enjoyable light moments. Prabhudheva's new film has a dated feel about it, given its story and the stereotypes it banks on. He tries making up for as much with the stock picture of frolic between the young leads besides ample melodrama. The film is funny in parts, the songs work to an extent and an overdose of mush pervades Prabhudeva manages to make the story sleek in extraordinary ways but his efforts are half baked as every frame of the films will remind you either of the afore mentioned films.
